OTHER PLACES I DOVE

WITH THE INSPIRATION

CAVALAIRE

Cavalaire is the place to go for wreck diving on the south coast of France though nearby dive centers or centers around Marseille can also take you on wrecks. Here wrecks start at 20 meters and then all depth down to 100 meters. Several dive shops stand on the harbour. I dive with l' ÉPERLAN (with Momo and Georges) because this center is the home of BUBNOTBUB, the technical diving school of my friend Aldo Ferrucci, who is an Inspiration instructor. When Aldo is around (most often when he is not organizing deep wrecks expedition) you can get oxygen, nitrox and trimix; check for the availability of sofnolime. CCR diving is getting popular there so things are getting easier with Aldo and Momo to take you down with your turtle to the beautiful wrecks around Cavalaire.

SAVOIE : Le-Bourget-du-Lac

Located in the Alpes mountains on the Lac du Bourget, Philippe Cathiard's diving center SAVOIE PLONGÉE is perfectly equipped and used to dive with CCR and trimix. We were there during the wonderful Mountain Lakes Rebreather Week in June 2005.

NORMANDY AND D-DAY WRECKS

I spent a couple days on board of WHITE HORSE with Gary Paterson and other scottish divers on D-Day wrecks. Jon who sails the WHITE HORSE has oxygen onboard for nitrox or CCR. The following days I dove near Cherbourg, with the TOURLAVILLE dive center that can also provide oxygen and by the end of 2002 should be able to provide trimix as well. Dives were very interesting and the weather of June was tropical. For both places, bring your sofnolime. For more informations on the wrecks, have a look at their web pages.

LOMENER

Lomener is a small harbour on the south coast of Britanny facing the island of Groix. Sylvain Lespargot runs the ATLANTIC FORMATIONS center. He can teach nitrox, trimix and SCR. He is also an Inspiration diver and is a former BSAC Instructor. He can provide oxygen and sofnolime. CCR divers are very welcome and the area is full of wrecks at all depth. He will do all his best to have you enjoy your dives on this beautiful shore of France. We had a great time there during the Lomener Rebreather Week 2004.

SHARM-EL-SHEIKH

Guy Haywood from RED SEA DIVING COLLEGE  has several units. He lends you the three liters tanks and provides you with oxygen, air, nitrox, trimix, ... Sofnolime also but the price is expensive so try to bring yours. Dives are exceptionnal and the organization is top class. Many Inspiration divers already went there. See Sharm 2002 . Aaron Bruce (TDI trimix instructor trainer and ANDI Buddy Inspiration instructor) has now opened his own diving center : EMPEROR DIVERS .

GRAND BAHAMA ISLAND

Very unexpectedly I found Fred Riger at GRAND BAHAMA SCUBA through internet. He has been on the island for over twenty years. He can provide oxygen up to 130 bar (far enough), nitrox, and sofnolime. The diving center is very rebreather friendly and children friendly. Bahamas reefs, lots of sharks, wrecks and cavern diving. The prices are very attractive compared to the other centers on the island and the welcome is certainly much better here. Fred can also give you hints for other Bahamas islands diving. Pictures on Bahamas 2004 .

ITALIA - SARDINIA

During the expeditions in 2002, 2003 and 2004 in Villasimius (South Sardinia), we got the support from the PRODIVE technical center team. They can provide helium and oxygen but not sofnolime. So you have to bring yours. The area is very rich in wrecks from 30 to over 100 meters deep. The team is among the nicest and most competent I have ever met. The center is located in a calm and comfortable hotel : Fiore di Maggio. Rebreathers are welcome, just get in touch with them to organize the dives.

PHUKET - THAILAND

You can obtain oxygen and sofnolime for your rebreather in Phuket at Marina Divers and Deep Blue Diving. Both centers can also provide you with helium which is very expensive there, as well as sofnolime. The price of the dive is regular with Marina and very expensive with Deep Blue but Deep Blue will take less divers to more "technical" sites. Ask for Andrew at Marina, and for Joerg at Deep Blue. Andrew Fortune is now settling a technical center open during the diveable season. You can reach him through his web site : Ocean Zone Divers.

MAURITIUS

Nolan de Chalain runs a dive center on the south shore of Mauritius and owns three Inspiration units with spares. He provides Sofnolime and HP oxygen. The south shore is the "wild" side of the island, and you really dive in the Indian Ocean. Ask him to take you to Shark point, Barracuda run or Turtle Reef ... DIVEMAURITIUS .

ITALIA - ISCHIA ISLAND

We dive with Technosub Ischia during the Deep Wrecks expedition in June 2006. Very nice team and exceptionnal service.

MARTINIQUE - FWI

Check PAPAD'LO where we organized the Saint-Pierre Rebreather Week in September 2006.
